MEET YOUR TRAINER

LAURA

Hi, I’m Laura and I have created PG Strength Club so that I can share the power of a strong body with others! I have been active my whole life, being a gymnast as a kid, playing volleyball and basketball in high school, and always having hobbies like hiking, yoga, and boxing. I even declared my major in college as physical education but at the last minute my life took a different path and I changed it to Art. I then received my BFA with a concentration in sculpture from Salisbury University on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. After graduation I traveled around the country, working different jobs, meeting lifelong friends, and figuring out what I wanted to do with my life.

It wasn’t until I returned back to Maryland and found myself nestled in the heart of PG county that I realized fitness was truly my passion and it was a way to help others. In my 30’s I started my own journey to get into the best shape of my life. It wasn’t easy, it took a lot of work and a lot of uncomfortable moments navigating male-dominated weight rooms in local gyms, but I wouldn't change it for the world because it unlocked layers of myself that I never knew I had. We all have an inner strength that we might not know is there, and that’s what I am here for- to help you find that strength!

I am a certified personal trainer through The National Academy of Sports Medicine and I am also certified through PROnatal with a Pre/Postnatal Performance Training certification. I have experience in competitive powerlifting, and I like to weave breathwork, yoga-style stretching, and the fun explosiveness of boxing into my sessions. My goal is to create a fun and challenging program tailored to each client, progressing them through both their strengths and weaknesses. I am so excited to be able to offer a space where people can learn themselves and uncover their strengths, unlocking new potential for their lives.

In 2024, after almost 15 years of practicing yoga, I traveled to Bali, Indonesia to dive deeper into this ancient practice. While I was there I gained my 200 hour yoga teacher training certification with Yoga Union but I gained far more than what I ever imagined. Diving deeper into this practice has not only helped me enhance my own yoga practice, but it has helped me become more in- tuned with my personal training career and all of my clients. I currently offer yoga classes in my original garage gym in Mount Rainier, MD. Weaving breath and movement, no matter how challenging or restorative the movement may be, is such an important part of how we move through life and I am honored and excited to be able to offer yoga classes to my current clients and the community!

Classes are a slow flow for up to 6 people. I have yoga mats, blocks, blankets and straps from Jade Yoga for your convenience, but of course you can bring your own if you prefer! I also have Jade Level One yoga mats for sale if you decide you love their products!
